Nourishing Wisdom provides a wide variety of classes, lectures, workshops and other events to help you to learn more about cooking, eating and staying healthy. October 4, 2008 - Nutrition Class: Delicious Healthy Desserts from the Farm

Location: Kingston Farmers Market on Wall Street in Kingston
Cost: Free
The purpose of the Healthy Eating Series is to educate the community about the nutritional value of the local produce found at the farmers market, and how to incorporate these foods into their daily diet.
October 11, 2008 - Nutrition Class: Explore of the wonderful Kingston Farmers Market, and tour of Mother Earth's in Kingston.
Time: 10:30am
Starting Location: Kingston Farmers Market on Wall Street in Kingston
Cost: $40 | FREE to Nourishing Wisdom Clients.

Do you shop at the farmers market? Do you want to but don't make the time? Not sure what to buy? The season is moving quickly!
Learn how buying locally is not only healthier, it supports local farms, keeps money in the community and SAVES YOU MONEY! Who doesn't want to get more for your money now?? It's a win win- and its important timing! Holly will give you tips on how to store food for the Winter so you can enjoy local produce all year long.
Then, stop for lunch on your own, and meet at Mother Earth's in Kingston at 2pm for the natural food store tour. Do you go into the health food store, buy soy milk and pet food, feel overwhelmed and leave? Do you buy a few items, feel curious about everything else in the store, feel like there is too much to know, think it's all it's too expensive and then leave?

October 14, 2008 - Cooking Class: Farm to Table
Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Rosendale
Cost: $65
We walk out into the fields with the farmer, harvest our vegetables, then head into the kitchen for a hands on cooking class. At the end of each class, we sit around the table to chat and enjoy the fruits of our labor- a delicious, freshly prepared dinner!
October 15, 2008 - NEW Class! Smart Nutrition for Busy People

Location: Ulster Community College
Cost: $45
Are you totally busy, rushing around all the time and grabbing food on the run? Skipping meals? Feeling sluggish? Well, it doesn't have to be that way. Life is full and it's not slowing down anytime soon. Since we have to eat at least 3 times each day- every day, 365 days a year, it's important to learn how to have nourishing foods available to sustain this busy life and your health. You can't get much done if you are not feeling well, right? You will learn smart ways to have nourishing food available to you when you need it, simple delicious meals for you and your family, and satisfying snacks so you can have the health and well being to live the life you want!

We feel differently when we consume coffee, alcohol or sugar than when we eat broccoli or meat.
We act differently when we haven't had enough sleep, quiet time, comfort or fun.
Getting a handle on what you eat and drink and how you treat yourself has a large effect on how you feel. It also affects what you accomplish in your day.
Join Mela Stevens, Certified Nutrition Counselor, and you will learn how to understand your body and how certain foods have an effect on us- both positively and negatively. It will provide a discussion forum for setting yourself up to use nutrition as a way of meeting your goals-for your own wellness and within your life.
