Nourishing Wisdom provides a wide variety of classes, lectures, workshops and other events to help you to learn more about cooking, eating and staying healthy. February 4 & 18, 2009 - Nutrition Workshop for Saugerties Teachers
Location: Saugerties
This Nourishing Wisdom 4 month Program will include specific nutrition information with a focus on cultivating health and well being through high level self care. There will be plenty of information that will be helpful to bring into the classroom. Workshop includes lively discussions and cooking classes, and you will receive articles, recipes, food samples and much more. The topics that will be covered are:
- Staying healthy through the Winter
- How to survive the holidays without gaining weight, breaking the bank, and staying sane!
- Understanding cravings
- Healthy eating on a budget
- Stress, Sleep and Weight gain- the connection
- The 3:00 energy drop and how to prevent it
- Simple and delicious meals
- Quick and delicious lunches and snacks
- Meal planning on the fast track
- Smart nutrition for busy people
- Superfoods- what are they, how can you eat more of them?
- All about sugar and other sweeteners
- Fats 101- fats to avoid, fats we want more of, why and how?
- Balancing blood sugar
- Mindful eating
- The importance of protein
- Whole grains- what are they?
February 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 & 26, 2009 - Overcoming Overeating Workshop
Location: Ulster Community College
Join Holly for a series that will focus on having a balanced relationship with food. This workshop is for you if you:
- Eat until you are stuffed and uncomfortable
Eat when you are emotionally upset, happy, angry, or for any reason other than actual hunger
Eat while doing other things like checking your email, reading, watching TV
Skip meals and have no regular eating times
Eat foods that you feel guilty about eating yet can’t seem to stop
Have uncontrollable cravings for bread, sweets, salty, crunchy food

February 28, 2009 - Cooking Class: Farm to Table
Time: 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Location: Stone Ridge
Cost: $65
Join us in the kitchen for a hands on cooking class. At the end of each class, we sit around the table to chat and enjoy the fruits of our labor- a delicious, freshly prepared dinner!
